Finding your sound

The most important building block of anything we can do as artists is to develop a unique set of sounds, techniques and arrangements which will characterise our different artist personas. In this course we will explore the foundational base you should use every time you start a new artist persona - finding your sound. In this course, we will be exploring how using influences, creative imperfection, workflow and play; you can create an entirely unique style to cut through the noise, get your songs noticed, and truly express your sound.

How to start a digital or vinyl label in 2022

Sometimes your sound isn't suitable for labels, sometimes you don't fit into a genre, sometimes you don't want to make anything but want to contribute to the music scene. Whatever your motivations, being able to start a label and begin selling records, whether digital or vinyl, is a skill that allows you to be a master of your own destiny and create your own scene. In this course, we will be exploring the platforms, relationships, partners, promotion and costs involved in creating a label. You'll gain the core knowledge you need to create a business within the music industry and begin growing the music you love.

Singers; here's how you process your vocals.

As a songwriter, your focus is on lyricism and vocal content, it can often feel overwhelming, especially in a production-heavy age. Being a solo artist can make things extra hard as there's often no one to fall back on to help bring your vocal production up to standard. There's a tonne of content out there, much of it confusing and all you need is the core essentials. In this course, we will be exploring what the core essentials are, which effects and sound design techniques are best, which learning content to prioritise in your journey, layering and levelling, how to enhance and improve flat sounds and more.

Social proof: testimonials

“Working with Michael has firstly helped me to return to something that I believe is a gift and a talent that I have been given that and something that, following years of working in corporate sales, raising a family etc etc, had been crushed out of me and I would never return to. So, firstly, I can say that just by starting the process, getting a DAW again and engaging with and writing the music I love is making me incredibly happy at the deepest level.”

“Michael has been a great coach from the start of the course. Well structured and easy to follow throughout. He has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to self promotion, as well as industry research techniques. Michael has gone beyond what was expected and pushed me to get my music finished and out, if it wasn’t for his support and advice I wouldn’t be where I am now in my music career! So worth the money! Do it! (Declan's music is currently being played regularly on BBC radio 1 and BBC introducing).”
